National Mentoring Month
- Giving national attention to the need for mentors, as well as how each of us—individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, faith communities and nonprofits—can work together to increase the number of mentors to assure positive outcomes for our young people.
- A call for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.
African-American History Month
- Paying tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.
- A day of service in honor of a talented and compassionate young man who made countless Iowans’ lives better by his understanding of one simple truth: service to family, community and friends is something which links us all.
AmeriCorps Week
- A time to salute AmeriCorps members and alums for their service, thank AmeriCorps community partners, and communicate AmeriCorps impact on communities and on the lives of those who serve.
